Methodology & sources
How MaPension.lu calculates, where the figures come from, and why you can verify every result.
The golden rule: no figure without an official source
Every regulatory value (rate, threshold, amount, factor, schedule, ceiling) is tied to a traceable official Luxembourg source: Social Security Code (CSS), income tax law (LIR), CNAP, IGSS, STATEC, the tax administration (ACD), Legilux. A value that cannot be verified is never invented: it is flagged as “unconfirmed — to be checked with the CNAP”.
The pension calculation (art. 214 CSS)
Your pension = flat-rate increases (tied to your insurance duration, up to 40 years) + proportional increases (tied to your contributory income). The result is brought to current value via the revaluation factor and the application index, then bounded by a minimum and a maximum pension. Retiring later slightly raises the rate (the “échelonnement” bonus), up to a ceiling.
Dated, kept-up-to-date parameters
Monetary parameters are versioned by year and carry their effective date. For 2026, the tool applies the revaluation in force on 1 June 2026 (application index 992.24; minimum pension €2,436.04; maximum €11,277.94), plus the December 2025 pension reform.
Your privacy: everything is computed in your browser
No career data you enter is sent to a server: the calculation runs entirely on your device. Sharing a scenario via a link is your own deliberate action — the parameters then travel only in the URL you copy.
What this tool is not
It is an indicative estimate, not a decision or personalised financial advice. Only the CNAP’s official calculation, at the time of your application, is binding. For an international career, each country calculates and pays its own share.
Official sources used
legilux.public.lu (consolidated CSS & LIR) · cnap.public.lu · secu.lu · igss.gouvernement.lu / mss.gouvernement.lu · guichet.public.lu · statistiques.public.lu (STATEC) · impotsdirects.public.lu (ACD).
Every parameter is traced, dated and sourced in the project’s audit file (docs/SOURCES.md).
