Minimum and maximum pension (2026)
Whatever your career, your Luxembourg pension is bounded by a statutory floor and ceiling.
The minimum pension (art. 223 CSS)
For a full career of 40 years, the pension cannot be lower than 90 % of the reference amount. In 2026: 2 376,62 €/month on 1er janvier, then 2 436,04 €/month on 1er juin (after indexation).
The condition: at least 20 years
Entitlement to the minimum pension requires a qualifying period of at least 20 years. Between 20 and 40 years, the minimum is reduced by one fortieth (1/40) for each missing year. Below 20 years, there is no minimum pension.
The maximum pension (art. 223 CSS)
No personal pension may exceed five sixths of five times the reference amount — that is roughly 11 277,94 €/month on 1er juin 2026. Very few careers reach it.
Why these limits change during the year
The minimum and maximum are indexed: they follow the applicable index (the cost of living). That is why they differ between January and June 2026.
